Paved driveway and lawn at a Durbanville family home in the Northern Suburbs

The Northern Suburbs are Cape Town’s building site — in the best way. New developments in Durbanville and Brackenfell, growing families upgrading gardens in Bellville and Plattekloof, security estates from Sonstraal to Uitzicht where every second home is adding a braai patio. It’s practical, value-conscious territory, and that suits exactly how we like to work.

What we do across the Northern Suburbs

Driveway paving

The Northern Suburbs driveway is a working surface — two cars, a trailer, sometimes the boat. We spec driveways here at 60–80mm brick on properly compacted bases, priced sharply, because this market compares quotes properly (as it should — here’s our own price guide to compare us against).

Patios and braai areas

Summer lives outside here. We build entertainment areas designed around the braai, the pool and the south-easter — positioning and wind shelter get planned before the first paver is ordered.

Artificial lawn

Nowhere in Cape Town has adopted artificial grass faster: new-build gardens want instant green, estates want neat verges, and nobody wants to water through February. We install UV-stable grades that survive the northern summer heat.

Landscaping and garden care

New-build plots come as bare sand — a blank page. Our landscaping team turns them into established gardens (soil improvement first, always, on this side’s sandy ground), and our garden service rounds keep them that way.

Areas we cover

Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Plattekloof, Panorama, Welgemoed, Tygervalley, Sonstraal Heights, Uitzicht, Vredekloof, Kuils River, Goodwood and Parow — plus the estates between them. Gate access and body-corporate rules are familiar territory; we handle the paperwork side without fuss.

Northern Suburbs conditions, honestly

Sandy soil compacts fast and drains well — good news for paving costs — but it’s hungry ground for planting, so landscaping budgets here should weight toward soil preparation and compost, not just plants. Summer heat runs hotter than the coastal strip: dark pavers get seriously warm underfoot, worth remembering around pools (our pool deck ideas post covers the cooler choices). The wind sandblasts young plants in exposed new estates — we plant wind-tough screens first, delicate stuff second.

Frequently asked

Do you work in security estates?

Constantly — Durbanville and Brackenfell estates are a big share of our northern work. We’re used to builder’s deposits, working-hour rules and clearance requirements.

What does a typical Northern Suburbs driveway cost?

Most double driveways here land between R23,000 and R38,000 in 2026 depending on size and brick choice — the honest breakdown is in our paving prices guide.

Can you do the whole garden, not just the paving?

That’s the point of us — paving, lawn, planting, irrigation and ongoing garden service from one team, one quote, one guarantee.
